Logbook Servicing

Whenever you buy a new car, the manufacturer provides you with a warranty that covers you for the cost of parts failures. This warranty is only valid, however, if you have your vehicle periodically serviced by a certified mechanic, who records and stamps these services in your vehicle’s logbook.

Many people think that your car has to be serviced at a dealership, or it will lose its warranty. This isn’t true, as it’s actually illegal for manufacturers to discriminate based on choice of repairer.

Here at Natrad Port Macquarie, our skilled mechanics are certified to provide logbook servicing for all:

  • Petrol vehicles
  • Diesel vehicles

Pink Slips (eSafety Checks) and Vehicle Inspections

An eSafety Check (formerly Pink Slip) ensures that your vehicle meets the safety standards to be legally driven on NSW roads. Any vehicles more than 5 years old will need an eSafety check before they can be registered, and your registration renewal papers will inform you if you need one.

If you’re thinking about buying a secondhand car, we would recommend bringing it in for a pre-purchase inspection. This way you know exactly what you’re buying, and can avoid any nasty surprises.

Natrad Port Macquarie is an authorised inspection station and can help you with eSafety checks, pre-purchase and pre-trip inspections.

Brake Services

Your brakes are the most important safety feature your car has. While other safety systems, like airbags, can only reduce the severity of an accident, your brakes can act preventatively, and the condition of your brakes is often the deciding factor between an accident and an emergency stop.

Here at Natrad Port Macquarie, our skilled technicians can help you with:

  • Brake component replacement (pads, rotors, and drums)

Exhaust Services

When most people think of exhaust problems, they think of loud mufflers, or smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. Superficial problems which make your car less appealing, but still driveable. This isn’t true at all, your exhaust is vital to your engine’s operation, as without the exhaust system drawing waste gases out of the engine bay, the engine can’t get oxygen, and will choke.

If you’re looking for a cost-effective way to upgrade your vehicle’s performance, we would suggest starting with the exhaust, as you can get a large performance boost for comparatively low cost.

Here at Natrad Port Macquarie, our experienced mechanics can help you with:

  • Exhaust replacement

Steering and Suspension Services

Problems with your steering and suspension affect handling and ride comfort, causing issues such as play in the steering wheel, body lean through corners, and vibrations in the wheel at speed. Your suspension is also responsible for maximising the grip that your tyres exert on the road, so a poor suspension will also increase your stopping distance.

Here at Natrad Port Macquarie, our expert mechanics can help you with:

  • Shock absorbers, springs and struts

Air Conditioning Services

Air conditioning systems actually degrade more from disuse than from use, as the rubber tubing and seals dry up and crack, allowing the refrigerant gas to leak out and rob your aircon of its cooling power.

Here at Natrad Port Macquarie, we are air conditioning specialists and can fully repair air conditioning for a variety of vehicles. We can fully repair your air conditioning, helping you with:

  • Inspection of drive belts and pulleys
  • Check operation of valves and thermostats
  • Inspection of hoses and components
  • Evacuate system and recover refrigerant (weigh amount and record)
  • Add required amount of refrigerant oil
  • Charge system with recommended refrigerant type and capacity (if required)
  • Condenser temperature check
  • Suction line temperature reading
  • Leak test system lines and components with an electronic leak detector
  • Run vehicle to check air vent temperature and report

Different cars may also have specific service requirements that are unique to the make of car or the particular model and there are optional service elements you may wish to request;

  • Deodorize and sanitize system*
  • Cleaning of condenser or radiator fins
  • Any additional dismantling of other vehicle components in order to gain access
  • Adjustment or replacement of of drive belts and pulleys
  • Replacement of any valves, hoses, thermostats or other components as neccesary
  • Replacement of receiver drier filter if required
  • Any additional or advanced diagnostic testing

* It is strongly recommended to thoroughly sanitize the cabin air ventilation system, using commercial grade steam cleaning equipment (as opposed to a simple vent spray). This help to ensure the removal of harmful mould, bacteria and mildew that can build up in the vent and condenser cavities.

Natrad Port Macquarie are now able to re-gas air conditioning systems using both R134a refrigerant and the latest R1234yf refrigerant.

Intercooler Services

We stock a diverse range of intercoolers including air to air and air to water types. A custom model can also be designed that caters to your vehicle’s performance needs.

Intercoolers For Turbo and Supercharged Vehicles
If you want more power from your force-fed engine, an intercooler upgrade is a must. Natrad has intercoolers for street cars, track, off-road racing, 4WD’s, or heavy towing. Choosing the right high performance cooler will maximise engine performance.
The ideal intercooler will reduce engine intake temperature without restricting air flow. This allows an aggressive tune on a turbo or supercharged car. Ask a cooling specialist about getting an intercooler upgrade or replacement high performance cooler.

Popular Types of Intercoolers in Australia
Intercoolers use air or water to cool the air entering the engine. The intercooler is located near the radiator, or at the top of the engine. The Subaru WRX is an example of a top-mount intercooler. The Ford Focus RS features a front-mount intercooler.

To increase engine power output, you can give your car a more aggressive tune. More power produces more heat, which means that the engine intake air will be hotter. To effectively cool the engine intake air, you need to upgrade the intercooler. An intercooler upgrade results in better cooling efficiency for engine intake air. Colder air means better engine performance.

A larger intercooler may need modified mounts and hoses to fit to the vehicle.

Your local Natrad store supply intercoolers for a wide range of turbocharged vehicles. Our most popular brands include Delphi, Behr Hella and Adrad.

Oil Cooler Services

Our range of oil coolers are designed to aid your vehicle’s cooling performance by reducing excess heat generation.

Why you need an Engine Oil Cooler
An engine oil cooler keeps the oil viscosity within the optimal range. Oil cooling is essential for modified cars, track, racing, or high performance cars. Some passenger cars even use small oil coolers to extend the oil change intervals.
Keep engine oil at the correct temperature with a transmission oil cooler. High performance oil coolers are available for racing, extreme 4WDing or heavy towing. Select an off-the-shelf replacement or ask for a specific custom design. Nip into Natrad for oil cooling.

What is an Engine Oil Cooler?
An engine oil cooler is essential for any engine operating under pressure. Whether you are towing a heavy trailer or street racing, we recommend using an engine oil cooler.

An engine oil cooler provides many benefits. An oil cooler may extend the life of your engine. It will also extend the oil change interval.

We supply oil cooler kits that contain hoses and fittings for easy installation. Engine and transmission oil coolers are available.

High flow, clog-resistant oil coolers will withstand heavy loads and vibrations. These performance oil coolers protect your engine in the toughest working environments.

We have off-the-shelf oil coolers for most vehicles. The shape and size of the oil cooler you need may vary from those pictured. Ask your local Natrad technician for oil cooler options to extend your engine’s life. We can even order a custom designed oil cooler for unique applications

EGR Cooler Services

Reduce emissions with exhaust gas re-circulation (EGR) parts.

EGR Coolers for Popular Vehicles
If the check engine light comes on, or your vehicle has reduced power, poor fuel economy, or exhibits stalling, pinging or knocking you may need a replacement EGR valve or EGR cooler to keep your vehicle operating safely.
Continuing to drive with a faulty EGR cooler may result in engine damage. Timely replacement of a faulty EGR cooler not only protects the environment, it helps to ensure the longevity of your vehicle’s engine and reduces fuel consumption.
Natrad can repair or replace your faulty EGR cooler or valve. Find a Natrad store near you to protect your engine from further damage.

EGR Coolers & EGR Valves
EGR coolers control the oxygen content and temperature at combustion. Inert CO2 exhaust gas is introduced to the engine, causing a slower explosion at lower combustion temperature and pressure. This reduces toxic NOx gas exhaust emissions.

Common causes of EGR failure are soot contamination, blockage due to carbon deposits, damage caused by constant vibration, or corrosion.

If the EGR valve malfunctions, CO2 is reintroduced to the engine intake at the wrong time, in the wrong amounts, and the engine performance suffers. If you continue to drive with a faulty EGR cooler or failing EGR valve, you may risk serious engine damage. Replace the EGR valve when required to ensure healthy engine combustion and improve your driving experience.

Replacement EGR coolers and EGR valves that meet or exceed original equipment specifications are available from your nearest Natrad with direct bolt-in fitment for ease of installation.
